Sacramento Restaurant Guide

Let's be honest, most people don't vacation in Sacramento. But, if you do find yourself in the capitol of California, you're in a great place to eat. The home of the Farm-to-Fork Movement, Sacramento has some of the best farmers markets in California. Those resources are what makes Sacramento a dining destination. Tangerine Desert has compiled a short list of the most notable dinner restaurants in Sactown.

Zocalo is the best mexican restaurant in Sacramento.  It's just a few blocks from the Capitol Building in a historic 1920s building. It's a little more upscale than your neighborhood taqueria, but not so fancy that you need to dress up. This place is great in the summer when they open all the windows. I order the Ceviche and a Blackberry Marg.

Empress Tavern a new restaurant that you have to try. This place is located in the basement of the Crest Theater, a landmark in Sacramento. Its got a really cool vibe because it's underground. Some of the best dishes are served family style. I order the Herb Roasted Chicken and a #3 Cocktail.

Lucca is a non-traditional take on italian food. I'm not big on italian but I love this place. The seafood is awesome and there is a great outdoor space for eating. I order the Cioppino and the Cucumber Bramble.

Ella is super fancy but totally worth it. I've tried a lot of new food at this place and ended up loving everything I ordered. It's right on K Street near plenty of places for after dinner drinks. I order the Oysters and a Sauvignon Blanc.
